چکیده

It is becoming increasingly important to European democratic governments to increase public participation. We argue that more effective tools are required to clearly display local planning proposals and their consequences in web based interactive 3D, free at the point of access. Initial workshops have shown that such tools are only likely to be used if those so doing can influence the outcome. Tools are needed to share concerns, examine alternatives, and propose solutions through collaborative citizen based examination and discussion. The paper describes a prototype for interactive 3D modelling on the web, which is currently being tested. One of the issues raised in the early workshops was that greater trust needs to be engendered between planners, developers, architects and the public, and that agreement that the data and the resulting representations is sufficiently accurate is likely to provide a stronger base for consensus.

Remote sensing , LIDAR , automated data capture processes & the VEPS project

This paper discusses recent project work that has been examining how to minimise the digital 3D modelling of urban and rural environments, where remotely sensed data is available. The increasing availability of highly accurate LIDAR data offers these opportunities, but currently is not captured so often nor is yet an extensive coverage that it can be relied on to keep VR analogues of real place...

A Distributed Virtual Reality Application Framework for Collaborative Construction Planning Using Bimserver

ABSTRACT: As the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry proceeds in the direction of digitalisation, computer supported collaborative work (CSCW) enhanced by building information modelling (BIM) becomes realistic for multidisciplinary collaboration in construction. Networked virtual reality (VR) supported by BIM servers, though showing great potentials in connecting multidisciplin...

Use of E-Participation Tools for Support of Policy Modelling at Regional Level

This paper describes application-specific and technology specifications related to ICT-based approach for the support of policy modelling as proposed in the EU funded FP7 ICT OCOPOMO project. In this particular approach strategic planning is supported by a combination of narrative scenarios, agent-based modelling, and e-Participation tools (all integrated via an ICT e-Governance platform). The ...

Planning Inner-City-Railway-Tracks: Dynamic Integration of Geospatial Web Services in a Collaborative Multi-Scale Geometry Modelling Environment

Planning inner-city-railway-tracks is an interdisciplinary and highly complex task that involves plenty of different stakeholders. Currently, the different planners work more or less separated in an asynchronous manner. To facilitate a collaborative planning process between these different stakeholders we developed a collaboration platform. Clearly, the integration of geographical information a...
